2019 Maternal Infant Dyad-Implementation (MInD-I): Perinatal Collaborative Care

Overview

This activity is designed to increase knowledge of the Collaborative Care model and its applications in perinatal mental health care. The goal is to improve depression screening rates in patients being seen in OB/Gyn practices and to be able to build capability and capacity in OB/Gyns and mental health providers to assess and treat patients for mental health conditions in the perinatal period. Essential elements of Collaborative Care that will be reviewed include:

  • Measurement based treatment to target,
  • Working in interdisciplinary professional teams,
  • Patient-centered care and,
  • Using a registry to manage a patient population.

Specific sessions will review assessment and treatment of common mental health disorders for women in the perinatal period like depression and anxiety, and evidence based psychotherapies and pharmacologic treatment for this patient population.

  • Identify ways to implement better care for Ob/Gyn patients experiencing symptoms of mental health conditions
  • Develop treatment plans based on case studies for Ob/Gyn patients experiencing symptoms of mental health conditions
