Topic: When the Skin Lesion Does Not Respond to Traditional Treatment
Objectives:
- Construct a differential for common and uncommon skin lesions presenting in patients using a systematic approach.
- Recognize the signs and symptoms of common and some uncommon skin lesions/disease states.
- Review the clinical presentation, examination, and testing to differentiate between skin lesions and the management of common lesions and the uncommon skin disease state of Porphyria Cutanea Tarda.
- Compare and contrast the risk factors and prevalence/epidemiology of Porphyria Cutanea Tarda.
- Summarize the research and pathophysiology of PCT along with the presentation.
- Recognize the potential confounding testing/treatment modalities of diagnosing and treating skin conditions, including PCT, and ways to possibly mitigate biases/anchoring.
