2020 Prisma Health Opioid Symposium
Overview
The opioid crisis has been acknowledged as one of the most pressing public health issues with far-reaching health, social, and economic costs that are well-documented by the CDC and NIH. Taking opioids for longer periods of time or in higher doses increases the risk of addiction, overdose, and death. Healthcare providers and controlled substance prescribers have an important role in offering safer and more effective pain treatment. This activity is designed to educate controlled substance prescribers regarding the opioid crisis and best practices for opioid prescribing in order to optimize pain management and patient safety. This will be a one-day interprofessional activity offering a didactic lecture and Q&A session.
Target Audience
Physicians, APPs, Nursing, CRNAs, & Pharmacists
