1.    Understand the roles and responsibilities of the appointment and promotion committee in the medical school and its relationship with other committees and departments.
2.    Identify the key criteria used by the appointment and promotion committee to evaluate faculty members for promotion.
3.    Analyze the process for submitting a successful application for promotion, including preparing a CV, writing a personal statement, and obtaining letters of recommendation.
4.    Evaluate the various types of activities that are considered in promotion, including teaching, research/scholarly activity, and service.
5.    Understand the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the appointment and promotion process and identify strategies to ensure that all faculty members have equal opportunities to succeed.
6.    Recognize the challenges and opportunities associated with interprofessional collaboration and identify strategies for fostering effective collaboration among faculty members and between departments.
7.    Analyze the impact of the appointment and promotion process on the overall culture and climate of the medical school and identify strategies for promoting a positive and supportive culture.
8.    Understand the legal and ethical issues associated with the appointment and promotion process, including issues related to discrimination, confidentiality, and conflicts of interest.
9.    Identify best practices for providing feedback and support to faculty members who are not successful in the appointment or promotion process, including strategies for addressing areas of weakness and identifying opportunities for growth and development.
10.    Develop a plan for advancing one's own career within the medical school and navigating the appointment and promotion process.
