Objectives:

1. Recognize changes to the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events in the United States. Describe the impact of these events on healthcare systems.

2. Discuss the impact of extreme weather events on emergency medicine, including medical education, patient presentation and management, emergency medical systems, and healthcare infrastructure.

3. List strategies that emergency medicine physicians can adopt to enhance healthcare resiliency and respond to extreme weather events, such as heatwaves, hurricanes, flooding, and wildfires.
