Topic: It’s Time We Had “The Talk”, Understanding the Spectrum of Sexual Behaviors in Childhood

Objective(s):  

  1. Distinguish developmentally normal sexual behaviors in children from those that require intervention. 
  2. Differentiate what elements of patient cases with potentially sexually reactive behavior warrant community partner referrals. 
  3. Outline an appropriate multidisciplinary management plan for children with problematic sexual behaviors. 
  4. Understand the role of the pediatrician in education and advocacy in cases of problematic sexual behavior.
