Topic: “Weakness in the Pediatric Patient”

Objectives: 

•Describe several differentials for weakness and determine clinical pictures that would match for each.
•Assess and perform adequate neurological examination including cranial nerve assessment, sensory exam, motor control, gait, coordination, mental status, and reflex elicitation.
•Discern between reflexes of a newborn and reflexes of a school age child/teenager and identify abnormalities.
•Assess need for imaging and laboratory work up for a patient with weakness. 
•Understand diagnostic criteria for NF1, NF2, Tuberous Sclerosis and MEN syndromes
•Understand treatment and management for NF1, NF2, Tuberous Sclerosis and MEN syndromes
