Series date:

Series Description:
This activity was designed to provide opportunity for novice and experienced hospice providers/clinical staff (MD, ACP/NP/PA) to engage in learning activities to improve empirical knowledge and confidence in the management of the complex hospice patient. Activities center around foundational hospice care skills ie. symptom management with review of anatomy/physiology and pathophysiology, pharmacology, and treatment options to help clinicians with patient management, increased knowledge of evidence-based practice, and improved clinical aptitude/response when on call or otherwise providing care to hospice patients. We frequently review applicable legislation, ethics, and protocols. Topics vary monthly and involve case studies, Q&A, and discussion between team members. While Dr Daniel Smith is the main lecturer, our assistant hospice medical directors (MD) are frequently in attendance and provide additional insight/input and at times, nurse practitioners receiving the education are invited to present or introduce topics for group learning.
