Series Overview:
This is the second part of a two part, dual format learning activity consisting of a didactic lecture and a simulated training session, centered around the teach-back method of physician/patient communication in order to address the practice gap in the areas of patient interaction and communication. Both parts need to be competed in order to receive credit. For information on part 1, please contact the series coordinator.
Series Objectives:
The Learner needs to:
- Understand the teachback method of patient communication
- Differentiate between what the physician is saying and what is being heard/understood by the patient
- Distinguish the difference in literacy/comprehension levels between patients
- Demonstrate the teach-back method in a simulated lab environment
- Incorporate the teach-back method in daily practice
