Objectives:

  • Describe the classification and grading of hydronephrosis and hydroureteronephrosis using SFU and UTD systems.
  • Identify the common causes of prenatal and postnatal hydronephrosis, including UPJ obstruction, VUR, PUV, ureterocele, and ectopic ureter.
  • Outline the appropriate prenatal and postnatal evaluation of urinary tract dilation using ultrasound, VCUG, and renal functional imaging.
  • Recognize patients who require closer monitoring, medical management, or surgical intervention.
  • Discuss indications and outcomes for pyeloplasty and other treatments of obstructive uropathy in children.
  • Identify common prenatal genitourinary abnormalities.
  • Describe the role of prenatal imaging and genetic testing in diagnosis.
  • Apply risk stratification and evaluation strategies for urinary tract dilation and other fetal urologic conditions.
  • Discuss prenatal counseling, management options, and expected postnatal outcomes.
