Content: Point of care ultrasound and the approach to the dental abscess

Objective(s): 

1. Identify which patients may benefit from a POCUS exam in the Emergency Department for dental complaint. 2. Understand the limitations of POCUS exams and understand when comprehensive follow up imaging is necessary for a dental complaint. 3. Understand which images and measurements are key to acquire and calculate during the performance of dental POCUS exams.  4. Appreciate the advantages of POCUS and how it can dramatically impact care particularly in the community ED setting for both identification of dental abscess and POCUS guided drainage
