Content: Point of care ultrasound for assessment of lower extremity deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

Objective(s): 

1. Identify which patients may benefit from a DVT POCUS exam in the Emergency Department. 2. Understand the limitations of DVT POCUS exams and understand when comprehensive follow up imaging is necessary for a pathological condition. 3. Understand which images and measurements are key to acquire during a DVT POCUS exam.  4. Appreciate the advantages of POCUS and how it can dramatically impact care particularly in the community ED setting for the emergency evaluation of possible DVT.
