Topic: Early genetic failure of pregnancy; preimplantation genetics and implications for clinical management

Objectives: 

  • Understand the nature of meiotic and mitotic errors in human oocytes and embryos;
  • Describe the impact of genomic instability on early reproductive failure, including failed implantation and early pregnancy loss;
  • Describe the impact that preimplantation genetic diagnosis of embryos has on reproductive failure, including early pregnancy loss and the predictive value of techniques used to screen for aneuploidy in early gestation.
