Topic: PWH Perinatal M&M
Objectives: Patewood Hospital hosts and facilitates a meeting with: CNO, Medical Director of PWH OB, Medical Director of PWH Neonatal Intermediate, Director of Nursing for Women's, Safety Specialist, CRNA manager, OB anesthesiologist, Manager of respiratory care, Nurse Manager of PWH Family Birthplace, Nurse Manager Family Beginnings/Newborn Nursery/Neonatal Intermediate, neonatal outreach coordinate for Prisma, the perinatal outreach coordinate for Prisma, Medical Chair of OB/GYN and MFM; Medical Chair of GMH Neonatal Intermediate (the tertiary care facilities); DHEC system developer; and other multidisciplinary team members. The PWH Quarterly Perinatal M&M team meets to review quality data for the month to include, but not limited to, discussing all live births resulting in neonatal death and all fetal/neonatal demise cases in which the neonate weighed at least 350 grams and less than 1500 grams will be reviewed utilizing the department's very low birthweight self-monitoring tool. Maternal and neonatal transfers are reviewed and discussed. Discussion of maternal morbidity and mortality are reviewed and discussed on an individual basis for the purpose of maintaining the quality and standard of care. Each event is evaluated for potential opportunities for intervention with the intervention and follow-up.
