Series Objectives:
The division starts a resident program, and the standard reading “ASCRS Textbook of Colon and Rectal Surgery” can serve as the basis for further discussion and alignment within the division on medical knowledge and patient interaction. A good mixture of attending physicians and residents will enhance the discussion in each session. Each week, a resident is assigned a chapter of the book that he/she prepared under the mentorship of a faculty member. During the weekly meeting, the chapter is introduced by the resident, and discussion is opened up to encourage clarification, alignment, and reflection on the practice and patient interactions.
