MD360 Wound Workshop

Overview

This 2-hour workshop will include a didactic lecture from a local wound care specialist on basic wound care topics of a broad variety, including identifying different types of healing needs and patterns, and how to support ideal healing as well as when to refer. The second component of the workshop will incorporate a MD360 built presentation which will include images from MD360 patients de-identified to help learners understand how to shift their approach towards wound healing and management.

Target Audience

MD360, Internal Medicine, and Family Medicine providers, including MDs, DOs, NPs, and PAs. 

Learning Objectives

  • EBM Identifying wound infection vs. no infection and when to use antibiotics.
  • Determine which wound dressings to apply to various types of wound.
  • Understand general healing time frames to educate patients on follow up care
  • Review appropriate antibiotics for various populations (DM, vascular disease, etc.) 
  • Discuss debridement and when it is appropriate for wound management prior to dressing
  • Understand how to implement and apply initial wound dressings and differentiate what can patient or care taker do vs health care professional.
