Overview

The purpose of this educational activity is to update the primary care community on the latest advances in cardiovascular care and how these advances apply to ongoing patient care. Through a combination of lectures, panel discussions and case broadcast, participants will be better equipped to evaluate patients with cardiac disease and assess/integrate treatment options.

Device Therapy for Heart

  • Discuss device therapy options for heart failure patients Identify appropriate candidates for advanced heart failure therapies

Remote Heart Failure Monitoring

  • Discuss application of Remote Heart Failure Monitoring
  • Describe how it is used to identify and manage our heart failure patients.

Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs)

  • Describe current left ventricular assist device technologies Identify the patients most likely to benefit from

LVAD Cardiac Amyloidosis

  • Describe current treatment and management modalities for cardiac amyloidosis

MitraClip Case

  • Discuss the impact of percutaneous mitral valve repair on symptoms in patients with severe mitral regurgitations who cannot undergo surgery
  • Describe the impact of percutaneous mitral valve repair on mortality for this patient population

Pre-op Evaluation

  • Identify patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease and other cardiac diseases who are at risk of cardiac complications during non-cardiac surgery.
