C.M. Easley Symposium and Resident Research Day 2025
Overview
Course Description
The symposium is an annual event providing up to date information on science and clinical practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology to the Upstate community. Lecturers are chosen from the leading medical scientists and clinicians on a national level and from within the department's own residency program. The goal is to provide a forum for the presentation of current evidence-based medicine in appropriate sub-specialties within OB/GYN. Participants will be provided with learning objectives supported by individual lectures and discussion with the goal of allowing them to increase their knowledge and make substantive improvements to their practice and patient care.

Assess Jain point as an alternative laparoscopic entry point across the BMI spectrum as it relates to abdominal wall thickness and distance to surrounding organs.
Understand the relationship between access to the perinatal collaborative care model and engagement in psychiatric treatment of perinatal women in community-based obstetric settings.
Compare the diagnosis rate of PMADs (perinatal mood and depression disorders) between a community practice with and without a collaborative care model.
Compare engagement in treatment with psychiatric and/or mental health services as measured by contact with a psychiatrist, psychotherapist, behavioral health care manager, initiation of psychotropic medication, referral for mental health services, or other treatment engagement with a psychiatric and/or mental health professional between a community practice with and without a collaborative care model.
Identify demographic, psychosocial, medical or obstetric variables that impact treatment engagement in the setting of the collaborative care model.
Understand how to purify and analyze circRNA from serum of endometriosis patients with an emphasis on minority, rural and/or underserved populations of
women.
Assess the expression of circRNA in the serum of women with and without surgically confirmed endometriosis and analyze correlation with endometriosis.
