Overview

This conference will address knowledge deficits in the areas of cultural differences related to victim responses after sexual assault, review the most beneficial evidence collection techniques, provide techniques for providing self-care at work and the use of police dogs in identifying electronic sources of child sexual abuse material

Learning Objectives

As a result of participating in this activity, learners will...

  • Gain a better understanding of the cultural differences in victims' responses to sexual assault so they can provide more culturally sensitive trauma-informed care.
  • Gain a better understanding of which types of evidence collection yield the best DNA results.
  • Learn techniques for promoting self-care and reducing their risk of burnout from secondary trauma.
