Series date:
01/01/2025 - 6:00am EST to 12/31/2025 - 5:00pm EST

Series Objective:

This activity focuses on the development of medical knowledge in spinal disease.  The Journal Club component is a structured review of the diagnosis and treatment of degenerative, traumatic, infectious, and neoplastic spine disorders including identifying and discussing the contemporary scientific literature. The Case Review component links the medical literature to recent episodes of patient care on the orthopedic spine surgery service. Gaps in knowledge and abilities are determined through departmental committees as well as by review of each individual resident’s performance in the care of patients with spinal disorders.  Continuing education of the ever-evolving field of spinal surgery is necessary to continue to provide optimal care for attendings as well. This activity is designed to both increase the knowledge and abilities (competence and performance) of the residents and to continually increase the expertise of the attending staff.
