47th Annual Greenville Orthopaedic Day
Overview
Greenville Orthopaedic Day is designed to provide 4 didactic lectures on specific subspecialty topics. This year’s topic is on Orthopaedic Oncology with lectures given by guest speakers Dr’s. Ginger Holt and Val Lewis. There will be a period for discussion and questions after each presentation. We will also have case presentations by the residents with commentary by our guest lecturers and a question and answer session around their personal and professional experiences.

- Identify commonly treated bone and soft tissue tumors and, congruently, their work-up, treatment and follow-up.
- Develop increased awareness of new therapies or surgical techniques available to aid with oncologic resection and reconstructions.

Ginger E. Holt, MD In 2003, Dr. Holt returned to Vanderbilt. After 17 years of service, she recently left her role as program director to become the head basketball coach of the Harding Hawks second grade boys basketball team. | |
Valerae O. Lewis, MD Dr. Lewis is Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She is also the Associate Director of the Department of Thoracic/Orthopaedic Center and Associate Director of the Sarcoma Center. She is a leader in the field of orthopedic oncology with particular expertise in limb salvage and pelvic sarcoma surgery in adult and pediatric patients. In 2011, she started the Multidisciplinary Pelvic Sarcoma Program at MD Anderson Cancer Center that not only addresses the clinical needs of this unique group of patients, but also works to improve both the clinical and functional outcome of patients with pelvic sarcoma. | |
