Module 1: Overview of SUD

Overview

The following components are included in each module:

  1. A pretest to assess student knowledge/learning and prepare students for certification type questions on the topic.
  2. National experts present the educational content including information about screening for the substance, treatment considerations and clinical implications.
  3. A video(s) of persons with lived experiences present their stories about the use of the substance.
  4. A posttest to assess student knowledge/learning.

Learning Objectives

  1. Recognize the global effect of substance use disorders on health
  2. Recognize the risks factors for developing a substance use disorder
  3. Understand the reasons underlying hazardous drug use
  4. Recognize the role that all physicians can play in addressing substances use disorders
