Harm Reduction & Syringe Service Programs in South Carolina: The Beginning of the Continuum of Care
Overview
Despite growing problems from unsafe injection drug use in South Carolina, access to syringe service programs has been limited. The Harm Reduction and Syringe Service Program Symposium aims to inform the public about evidence-based harm reduction practices, including syringe service programs that decrease opioid overdose rates, HIV/HCV infections and increase access to life-saving medications for opioid use disorder. This symposium will provide a safe space for exchanging evidence-based ideas to reduce the harms associated with drug use. We will create networking opportunities to develop a sustained action plan for SC.
