2025 Southeast Hub: Faculty Development Course on Competency-Based Medical Education
This 2.5-day course is organized by the Southeast Hub, a consortium of several academic institutions in the Carolinas and Northeast Georgia and the ACGME. It is designed to provide faculty development in assessment and feedback as it relates to the ACGME's goal of working toward Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) versus time-based graduate medical education. Attendees will alternate between sessions of didactic theory bursts interspersed with small breakout group activities before practicing direct observation skills and giving feedback in a guided Simulation Workshop activity. The remainder of the course will focus on resident coaching and remediation, creating individualized learning plans (ILPs) and creating an action plan for program self-assessment that attendees can bring back to their programs. This activity is intended for residency program directors and faculty.
