2026 Southeast Hub: Faculty Development Course on Competency-Based Medical Education

February 4, 2026 to February 7, 2026

Date

Wednesday, February 4, 2026 -  Saturday, February 7, 2026

Location

Roam Greenville One and USC School of Medicine SIM Center, Greenville, South Carolina

Overview

The Southeast Hub is a collaborative learning network of five residency programs that delivers annual faculty development in competency-based medical education (CBME) to educators across the Southeast region.

In partnership with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the Southeast Hub offers this course to advance faculty development in graduate medical education (GME) and learner assessment.

This 3.5-day course is designed for GME faculty to learn best practices in assessment, enhance direct observation and feedback skills, and engage in hands-on coaching activities within a safe, learning-focused environment. The program is modeled after the ACGME’s highly regarded Chicago-based course, Developing Faculty Competencies in Assessment, and combines brief didactic sessions with small-group interactive activities. Participants will practice direct observation and feedback at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Simulation Center.

The final portion of the course focuses on resident coaching and the creation of individualized learning plans (ILPs). All participants will leave with an actionable program self-assessment plan that they can implement in their residency programs. This activity is intended for residency program directors and faculty seeking to enhance their skills in CBME, assessment, and resident coaching.

This activity has been approved for Academy of Educators (AoE) credit.
